A WOLF IN THE NIGHT Original
"911 what is the nature of your emergency," the operator asked, noting the time was three a.m.
"HELP! HE'S KILLING ME...," screamed a male voice.
"Who's killing you, sir....sir?" She asked anxiously, but the phone had been dropped and all she could hear was the horrifying sounds of someone screaming, curses being hurled from another male voice, then snarls of some beast, more screams which curdled her blood before a door banged loudly and the screams and growls faded away. Badly shaken, the operator hurriedly signaled the police but she had a feeling it was already too late.
Thirty minutes after receiving the call of a poss
SHE'S GONE!
She let me know she was leaving when she went walking around our home. She went places she had never visited. Her favorite spot was on top of the couch cushion, letting the sun shine on her.
But in the last couple of days, she wandered. She visited each family member and stayed awhile before wandering off again. She even slept a few minutes on my part of the bed, something she'd never done before.
Was this her way of saying goodbye? I'd like to think so. On the day I took her to the vet, she wanted desperately to go outside in the yard. I co
Chapter 1: Dog Rescue
Ugh! I hate getting home so late. It was a few days before the 4th of July and just after dusk with the fog rolling in as was usual for this area. I trudged up the steep hill to my apartment building situated in the beautiful neighborhood known as Corona Heights. An eery feeling crept over me, causing goosebumps to break out over my arms....not all of it caused by the cooling evening. This had happened every night so far and I did my best to ignore the sensation. After all, the neighborhood was safe and, at the moment, the sidewalk and street was quiet and empty.
I'm normally off two hours earlier, which often allo
FEAR
Why is she shoving me in this box? What did I do wrong? It smells new but the contents don't. There's the odor of koolaid, dirt, dust, and.....is that mold I smell?
Is she getting rid of me? I know she's grown a lot but she was playing with me not long ago. Have I displeased her? No! She's closing the box! Let me out! Please don't discard me!
It's gone quiet and it seems like forever before the box is lifted then set down. Suddenly light fills my eyes. There she is! I sigh, relieved. I'm still wanted.
He stood in the cold rain on top of what remained of his building. His clothes were in shreds and he was cold but he didnt go inside.
He stared down at a once proud city now in flames. Their enemies had finally succeeded in banding together to defeat them at last. After so many years of keeping them at bay and defeating them time after time, they had finally succeeded in bringing the city to its knees.
Its once proud citizens had fled or died in its streets. Only the last of the meager defenders were left and even those were fast being killed.
Tears fell unheeded down his face as he remembered the countless futile battles hed f
It lay there in the center of my cluttered desk looking totally out of place. I stared at it for several minutes before daring to reach out and actually touch it.
Ouch! It was real, alright. A thorn had punctured my finger. I sucked on the small wound and continued to stare at the purple rose.
Yes, I said purple! I thought for certain it had to be fake because I`ve never heard or seen a purple rose before. With caution this time, I pick up the single flower and studied it more closely. It wasn`t painted and the petals were incredibly soft to the touch.
Frowning, I look around the room but no one was lookin
Do you believe in luck? We do in our family. We also believe bad luck comes in threes though this year it seems to be vying with good luck in a bizarre fashion. Here's a break down of how our year's gone and there's still two months to go. I wish it was over already so I don't have to worry about more problems. (of course that's just wishful thinking as each year so far has been bad, matching the economy so well)
Anyway , it started in January, though actually it began in December 2011. We should have been warned the year wouldn't be good when my middle daughter had a bad tooth. Our regular dentist said he didn't do extractions and th
Lice, the bane of mankind's existence. The nasty little things crawl on the heads and body of the rich, poor, middle class, dirty, or clean with total impartiality. Here is our story of battling the nasty things.
My middle daughter had become the lice eradicating queen of our household after having to deal with more than one outbreak from her little sister and friends.
On that one remembered summer, not long ago, the nasty little fiends had been detected on middle sister and a friend. The household was up in arms. With many a cry of 'who brought these here' from the girls themselves, suspicions were cast on a recent male visitor as th

The Year 2052
The sound of something crashing made RD run toward his friend's dining room. Bursting through the café doors, he halted and stared.
"Jasper....what the hell?"
His friend's face was flushed with anger and his blue eyes were cold with fury. In front of him were the remains of an expensive flat screen TV where he'd apparently thrown his full coffee mug into the glass front. It sparked and smoked where it lay on the Italian tile floor. The man turned away from the mess and walked toward a large picture window where he glared out at his expensiv
