I was devastated when both Warren and Sanders dropped out.  The only thing we who want our country back is to get Biden into office (even if we don't like the man).  Once we've done that we then proceed to vote on bills within our own state governments that Sanders, Warren, and others of like minds are going to push for, such as: anti-corruption, voting rights, the ERA (this one alone should hopefully stop the taking of women's rights), repair the political system, the Green New Deal, free higher education, and many more important legislation that McConnell has blocked repeatedly.

I'm not normally a politically active person but after what's been happening under the last few presidents culminating in the ruinous leadership under #45, I feel I need to do what I can even if that only means paying attention and voting.  I may be a baby boomer but unlike too many of my peers, I don't want the "good old days" to return.  I want a better future for my kids and myself.

If you feel the same, I strongly suggest you check out Represent Us  and UC Berkeley professor, former Secretary of Labor and Co-Founder of Inequality Media Robert Reich on facebook.  Both sites are well worth your time with excellent videos that detail what's been happening to our country and what, if anything, the American people can do to get our voice back that the present government has taken from us and kick the oligarchy out.  To be heard and to actually make changes we need to vote on bills presented to  our own state governments which, in turn, will force the Feds to do the same.  This is how we got some major bills passed years ago, on things such as women's and blacks voting rights, gay marriages, marijuana use, clean water and air, etc.

Suggest you watch these really informative videos: "Unbreaking America: Divided We Fall"  and "Jennifer Lawrence: We are witnessing a total political system failure in America".  Both these videos give me hope that we can do something.  Also, if you want or need to know how our government was supposed to be run and what has happened instead then check out Robert Reich's videos.  He's a great speaker, explaining things in plain and understandable language.

I'm tired of feeling helpless, aren't you?

But not just for the president.  People have forgotten the lessons taught in Civics classes in high school about just how much power the Congress has.  Everyone focuses on the president instead and blames them for things not changing.  Listen up its CONGRESS with the real power and if we don't vote its on us for not replacing them.  It's a shame but true that most people ignore the primaries that are meant for replacing a congress person.  Not voting means no change because we left the "do nothing person" still in their seat making money and gaining power but none for us, the people of the US.

People! Relearn your government history. Take back our government that's presently sliding into anarchy and corruption.  We have made a good start but that's in the House not the Senate where most of our hopes have been stalled or denied a hearing.

I've just watched a rapper video.  The young man gave the best, well thought out message and lesson I've ever heard about why it's important to vote.  Give it a listen.  Ignore the fact it's rap song if you don't like that kind of thing, just listen to the message he's relating.  I promise it will get your attention and hopefully teach you something too.

It's not too late to make the changes needed to restore the freedoms that are leaking away from us with each successive Congress and incompetent leader.  The time is now!  Don't let this opportunity pass you by!  Remember, even though everyone in power is trying to make you focus on voting for a new president, it is really Congress we should and need to be concerned with so don't skip the congressional primaries.  Voting for a new Congress is where real change will begin. Why Vote

Wish I could be anywhere but here right now.  Hawaii would be cool.  Didn't get to see much of it when I was there in 1972.  New Zealand would be great too.  No money though, sigh.

Happy New Year

2 min read
Hope the end of the year was a good one for all.  Surprisingly, it was a quiet and peaceful Christmas for my family which was very nice.  Next year is the start of new beginnings for some, new jobs for others, and new directions for me and yet another birthday in January pushing me closer to 70!
